A Bothersome Flight Attendant?

A Bothersome Flight Attendant?
8/11/01

How are you sir?
How do you do?
Did you meet yourself this afternoon?
Would you like a cup of coffee?
Or some yellow lemonade?
Did you ever think to seek out
The God for whom you were made?

While you're drinking your beer,
Just hear what I say
I'm not asking hours,
Just part of your day.

Have you felt that urgent longing
That money no longer fills?
Why do your toys and play things
No longer fit the bill?
Did you ever stop to consider while searching,
That what you were looking for
Was not in yourself or those 'round you.
Spirituality is not the door.

When you put your faith in the bogus,
Don't be surprised when it dies.
And don't be shocked on discovering
That all you believed in were lies.

But you will find your true self in one thing
One thing that is free, without cost.
One person who loves you so deeply,
That He died for you who are lost.
So that that which was lost could be found,
And the sheep that had once run astray,
Could be at joy with his Master,
Could be at peace this very day.

So why wait any longer?
Run to the Shepherd's arms.
You'll see that it's far, far better
Than anything else's charms.
"At Your Fingertips" by Jeffrey T. Requadt

Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me.
Eat what is good!
Delight your soul in abundance!
Incline your ear, and come to the Lord.
Hear, and your soul shall live!

Words spoken by the Lord, Isa 55.2-3

Come to Me,
You who labor and are heavy laden,
And I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
For I am gentle and lowly in heart,
And you will find rest for your soul.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Words spoken by the Lord, Mt 11.28-30

I Miss My Friends

When will I see them again?
In heaven maybe? Or at all?
How can one person mean so much?
And so many even more?
Life is so short and yet
So much meaning and yet
So many people.
If only I had known them — touched them —
A little more.

I miss my friends.
What is life without others
If not the shadowing flirtation
Of a miserable existence?
If only I would learn
Maybe I would know them
Because,
When will I ever see them again?
Title: "When Will I See Them Again?"

Is there a stranger in your midst, newly arrived from a distant land or city?

  • The poem above tells how much it hurts to be separated from lifelong friends.
  • The verse alongside tells how you can help.
(God said...) The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself. Lev 19.34a
