Three Codes of Conduct for the War on Terrorism
For America's Armed Forces, and for YOU
Navigate

America is now engaged in the war on terrorism.

Even as you read this, the brave men and women of our Armed Forces are putting their lives on the line in defense of our nation, our people, and our way of life.

Bible Bell has published this page so that you may better understand the FULL EXTENT of the courage, will, and determination of our Nation's fighting forces.

This brief page is in three parts, as explained in the right-hand column. We urge you to read carefully, and meditate upon, all three of them.
Part I is the Code of Conduct for our military personnel. Every member of the Armed Forces is trained in this code, and has agreed to keep it.

Part II is the Bible's code of conduct for any and all battles by a God-fearing nation. We believe you will agree that America's solemn vows, as to HOW we will conduct the war on terrorism, are in full accord with these Biblical guidelines.

Part III is yet another code of conduct from the Bible. This code applies to YOU as a Christian, for you also have a critically important battle to fight.

Please lend your personal moral support to our Armed Forces, and pray for them always.

Part I
Presidential Executive Order 10631: Code of Conduct for members of the Armed Forces of the United States

I
I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life.
I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
II
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.
III
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

  IV
If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.
V
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.
VI
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

Part II
Holy Bible's Code of Conduct for a God-fearing Nation When Doing Battle

Thus says the LORD:

  • Execute judgment and righteousness.
  • Deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor.
  • Do no wrong.
  • Do no violence to the fatherless or the widow.

  • Shed no innocent blood.
  • Defend the helpless and the sick.
  • Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
  • Rescue the weak and needy.
  • Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

Jer 22.3, Ps 82.3-4

Part III
Holy Bible's Code of Conduct for Christians Waging the Unseen Battle

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore...

  • Take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
  • Stand! Gird your loins with truth!
  • Wear the breastplate of righteousness.

continued next column

  • Shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
  • Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
  • And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
  • Pray always, with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.

Eph 6.12-18a
